The open robotics data market
Robotics has no open market for verified data yet.
Digital AI already has scaled data companies, expert networks and open marketplaces. Scale AI, Surge AI, Mercor and Hugging Face represent more than $67 billion in value because they made data, talent and models easier to source and use.
- Mercor$10B
- Hugging Face$12.9B
- THORTarget position
- Scale AI$29B
- Surge AI>$15B
- XDOF~$1.2B
- Mecka~$500M
Top: open supply · Bottom: closed · Left: digital data · Right: physical data
Bubble area is to scale with valuation. THOR marks its target position.
Robotics has no equivalent. Companies such as XDOF and Mecka have shown that buyers will pay for specialist physical-world data, but supply remains closed, fragmented and delivered through individual service providers. There is still no scaled open market where robotics teams can specify what they need, draw from a broad contributor base and receive data that has been verified against a consistent standard.
THOR is building that missing market. Buyers define the work, contributors produce it and the network rewards output that passes verification. Over time, data collection, simulation, hardware and research can all feed the same system, giving physical AI the open infrastructure that Hugging Face helped create for software-based AI.
